Automotive Service Technician students Aura Valenzuela and Kallee Boatwright Philip were named as the 2024 recipients of the J.W. Baker Memorial Scholarship. Valenzuela is a recent graduate of Lindsay High School, while Boatwright is a recent Lexington High School graduate.
Alex Jurado, MATC Automotive teacher, has nothing but praise for Valenzuela and Boatwright. “These two students showed up ready to work every day and could always be counted on to help other students in either the classroom or shop. They will go far in the automotive industry. They are champions!”
J.W. Baker, of Wayne, was an adjunct teacher and a great supporter of Mid-America Technology Center for many years. Because of his service and dedication to MATC, money was donated in Mr. Baker’s honor to be given in the form of the J.W. Baker Memorial Scholarship.
Valenzuela is being awarded her scholarship check from MATC Automotive Service Technician teacher Alex Juardo.
Boatwright received her scholarship certificate at the Lexington Seniors’ Last Roll Call from Karen Hemmerling, MATC Director of Instruction.
